I always add few chopped coriander leaves to this dish but this have to be avoided...when we add corinader leaves this taste dominates the taste of ginger and garlic.Last time when I made it...that was a hit...I couldnt belive myself...Here is the recipe.
Toor Dal:3/4 cup(pressure cooked and mashed)
Chopped Ginger:1 spn
Crushed Garlic:3 cloves
Mustard seeds:1/2 spn
Urad Dal:1/2 spn
Cumin Seeds:1/2 spn
Dry Red Chillies:3(cut)
Turmeric Powder:A Pinch
1.Heat a pan on flame add oil,when hot add cumin seeds and when they splatter add the mustard seeds,urad dal and fry till golden brown.Now add the chopped ginger,crushed garlic,curry leaves and fry till the raw flavor is removed.Now add in the green chillies and red chillies and fry for a min.
2.When done add the boiled n mashed toor dal stir well and add pinch of turmeric,salt to taste and stir well.Boil it on slow flame for 10-15 mins,this makes the dal more tastier.Turn off the flame when done.Serve it hot with plain Rice.Potato fry will be the best combination.
